According to this link: http://www.chacha.com/question/how-many-stores-does-walmart-have-in-japan
There are about 400 walmart stores in Japan, all of which have the necessary survival basics (tents, water, lamps, first aid, etc)
Walmart has a proven local-delivery logistics in place, and doesn't have to get government approval to delivery the goods unlike the assisting countries' military.
I'd like to invite comments and directions on getting money to the local walmart stores to delivery a survival goods package as close to the disaster site(s) as possible.
Guys, I just posted a link to the Salvation Army - Golden State Division, which is already taking donations pretty quickly. But it pains me to see that they're not accepting gifts in kind.
ReplyDeleteI want to push this walmart idea further: Walmart is a HUGE company, with hundreds, or even thousands of items that would help with relief efforts in stock - right now!
Just hours away from those that need it. Within 24 hours, people who have no where to stay can be set up in a tent with water and light - all those people need right now is a place to sleep and get organized with their friends, family, and neighbors.
Lets find the 10 closest public buildings to the earthquake victims that are still in working order - and order walmart care-packages to be delivered... TOMMORROW!
A van-full of these care-packages taken from the public building to the disasters site(s) would house 10 families for a night - which is a good start to getting them help.
